Brief historical overview

1969: Gunter Wenzel founds the company WENZEL at the age of 26. The company starts with a light tracing machine costing a sinfully expensive 800 Deutschmarks at the time. What was initially planned as a sideline quickly became the main source of income. Gunter Wenzel is assisted by his wife Marion, whom he marries in the same year. Their son Matthias was also born in 1969. Marion Wenzel combines family and career - and delivers orders with the baby carriage.

1972: The Olympic Games take place in Munich. The construction of the sports facilities and the associated demand for plan copies help the still young company WENZEL to make a breakthrough. The first branch is opened in the north of Munich in order to offer customers short delivery routes.

In 1983, Gunter Wenzel founds the subsidiary "Kopierzentrum Passau GmbH" with the XLPRINT24 department. Specialties are large format printing and advertising technology. A subsidiary is also added in Munich: Hansa Print Service.

1985: WENZEL invests in one of the first color copiers. Customers and prospective customers stand out on the street.

1991: Son Matthias Wenzel joins the company during and after his training as a bank clerk.

1999: Anke Wenzel, wife of Matthias Wenzel, joins the company, specializing in accounting. This means that all the Wenzels are employed in the family business.

2000: Son Matthias becomes a member of the management and since then forms a dual leadership with Gunter Wenzel.

2001: The Internet finally begins its triumphal march through the world. WENZEL invests in infrastructure (at that time ISDN) and equipment for the digitization of plans. Today, the scanning department is an important pillar of the company.

2008: WENZEL is open to new ideas and tries out the printed beer table table. Printing ink is applied directly to the wooden surface.

2009: 40th anniversary of the WENZEL company. The company now employs almost 100 people.

2009 - 2012: WENZEL invests in large format printers and a milling machine and meets the demand for sign printing and photo printing on high-quality materials such as acrylic glass or aluminum Dibond. Financing is always from own funds. In 2012, the website is relaunched, and even then WENZEL pays attention to mobile-compatible design. The online store created in 2011 gets a redesign.

2013: WENZEL invests in a laser machine and expands its range to include laser engraving and laser punching

2014: The Colorwave high-performance printer represents a high five-figure investment. WENZEL now offers an even better plotting service and favorable prices for short poster runs.

2016: The family business expands its machine park with the mega scanner "Hornet". This makes it possible to scan documents up to 2x DIN A0 size without contact, including paintings in frames behind glass, yellowed maps, books, sealed folders, etc. The following year, the Bee" scanner which digitizes slides at high speed.

2017: WENZEL relaunches its website and bundles its extremely broad portfolio in a clear and user-friendly way.

2019: Purchase of the Canon Colorado printer with UV gel ink for high-quality artist illustrations, adhesive films, canvas and poster prints.

2020: WENZEL withstands the pandemic and produces large quantities of custom-sized acrylic spit protection walls and other Covid-19 protective articles

2021: The company stands for innovation and quality and is the first in Bavaria to invest in the latest, environmentally friendly printing technology during the pandemic: HP Indigo 7K production printer
