Microfilm – filming and enlargement

Microfilm as a reliable archival medium
Microfilm offers you a reliable and computer-independent way to store and document your knowledge and important data. By exposing your originals to light on microfilm, we preserve your data on film cards, which are labelled and catalogued according to their content.
Reading/scanning microfilms
Using our microfilm scanners, we can scan film cards, jacket/fiche and roll film (16mm and 35mm) for you and prepare the data for digital processing.
We scan film cards in batch mode at a maximum resolution of 400 dpi (based on the original format). This method is particularly suitable for scanning large quantities of film cards containing plans.

You can also choose from the following options:
- Save as individual files
- Alignment to 0 degrees
- rotate to the view position
- crop to original size
- Assembly of component mounts
- Save as PDF
- Vectorisation (more on this here)
We scan (roll) jackets/sheets and roll film directly from the image. As this method of digitisation typically results in large volumes of A4-sized documents that then need to be scanned, we offer two different data storage options:
- Save as individual files
- Linking individual chapters/sections into multi-page files
- Optional OCR text recognition
Of course, we would be happy to print out the scanned data for you.
Why microfilm at all?
It is now almost impossible to imagine our daily working lives without computer data. Computer technology is fast and flexible, and unbeatably versatile when it comes to active data processing. However, as a storage medium, computer technology has a crucial weakness: even minor errors in the hardware or software can quickly lead to the permanent loss of important data.

Microfilm as a storage medium for up to 300 years
As a form of data storage that does not rely on computer systems, microfilm therefore offers a secure alternative for storing and documenting important data over a very long period of time. The data stored on microfilm can be accessed at any time using specialised scanners and is preserved for up to 300 years thanks to the durability of microfilm.
